STRUGGLING TO SLEEP? HERE’S WHY

Sleep is crucial to your health. Ask any medical expert, and they’ll tell you that there are a range of issues that will be caused in your body if you don’t get the full amount of sleep necessary – eight hours – you can have physical and mental health issues. Unfortunately, there are a range of problems that can keep you up through the night. The only way to improve your sleeping pattern is to address them and make sure that they no longer stop you from getting a good night of sleep.

So, let’s look at the common causes of lack of sleep and the ideal solutions.

If you feel like your duvet is suffocating you due to the massive level of heat, then you might want to think about changing it. It might be worth getting a summer duvet and a winter duvet. Winter duvets will keep you warm through the summer season while a summer duvet will provide the relief you need when the temperature rises.

Of course, you may love your thick duvet and want another way to cool down. Some people like feeling secure under a thick duvet and hate the lighter varieties. If that’s the case, consider getting a ceiling fan. Ceiling fan come in a range of different sizes. So, if you have a large bedroom, you can get a large 10 foot ceiling fan that is guaranteed to keep you cool. You could open the window, but some people hate the idea of sleeping like this due to bugs and beasties.

Lumps And Bumps

Do you constantly feel lumps and bumps underneath you when you’re trying to sleep? If that’s the case, you might want to consider upgrading and changing your mattress. Mattresses do get worn and worse for wear. If this happens, it can keep you up through the night. Once you replace your mattress, you might find that it’s far easier to sleep and relax through the evening.

Stress And Strife

Of course, it’s possible that the real culprit of your lack of sleep is stress. If you constantly feel stressed and irritable, you might want to think about finding a way to cope before you try and close your eyes. One of the ways to do this would be by writing down your thoughts and feelings particularly around what’s making you feel stressed. By doing this, you are sending a message to your subconscious that these issues are dealt with. That way, they should no longer keep you up through the night.

 

The Coffee Conundrum

Last but not least, you might just be up all night because you’re throwing your sleeping pattern out of whack due to your diet. This will be the case if you are a constant coffee drinker. You might not realize this, but our body has natural hormones to get us up in the morning and also to send us to sleep at night. Drinking coffee or eating foods with a lot of sugar will mess with these hormones. If you want to get your sleeping pattern back on track fix your diet.

  1. Sleep is SO important! I used to pride myself on being able to run on very little sleep, and now I look back and realize how silly I was. Especially from a health and fitness perspective, your body does most of it’s recovering and rebuilding while you’re sleeping. It’s crucial! Working out or getting yoga in is also super helpful in falling asleep.

  2. This is a great post – it’s impossible to have a fabulous day when you’ve had a terrible sleep, haha! I’ve just changed my mattress and it’s amazing how much of a difference it’s made. Soooo comfortable now.
