WEIRD REASONS YOU AND YOUR OTHER HALF ARE ARGUING (AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEM)

Have you ever found yourself arguing with your other half (OH) for what seems like no reason at all? Well, you are not alone. In fact, we all do it at some time. It can be as damaging to a relationship as arguing over the big stuff. Luckily, there is a way to deal with it, and it’s discovering the underlying issue weird as it may be, and address that. Find out more about this in the post below.

You are hangry

Hangry is a term made up of the two word hungry and angry, and it relates to an upset state of mind that is caused by being hungry. Of course, getting into this state make your patience a lot shorter,  and can cause little relationship disagreement to turn into a massive argument!

With this in mind, if you know you are someone that is susceptible to this state, then carrying a healthy snack with you when you are outside of the home is a good idea. Then your hanger levels won’t get too high, and you can be more patient with your OH.

Health snacks will kill off hanger.

Also, try not to discuss any significant issue in the relationship just before meal times either. The reason being that this can create additional strain on a situation that would otherwise be solved quite easily.

You are tired

Next, a huge reason tiny arguments can run into massive fights in a relationship is that you or your other half are tired. Of course, if you have a new baby, then it will be pretty tough not to be exhausted. Although you can take it in turns to do the night shift so the other can get some decent shut-eye.

It can also be a good idea to revise your sleeping arrangement if you regularly wake up feeling exhausted. In particular, check out things like these Sterling Sleep mattresses that can be customized on each side for couples that have different requirements. You may even want to consider sleeping separately a few nights a week to ensure you are as rested as possible.

You are stressed

Lastly, it’s a sad fact, but many people take their life stress out on their OH. Mainly because they are the person that they are in closest proximity to both physically and emotionally. Of course, it’s excellent when couples support each other through the hard times. But when one person becomes the dumping ground for all the emotional turmoil of the other, it can be bad for a relationship.

To that end, if you are aware that you are having a hard time emotionally, it can be helpful to seek out a constructive way of dealing with your stress. Many people choose to exercise regularly to do this, while others seek out talk therapy or counseling as an outlet for their emotions and as a way of learning to deal with their emotional state in a more manageable way. Something that means they will place less stress on their relationship and help it survive in the long term.

  1. Oh my goodness I never thought I would relate to a post so much. Even the first point about being Hangry is so important – the amount of times I’ve easily lost my cool just because I haven’t eaten all day is unprecidented.

    Have a great weekend!
