If you’ve ever felt like a loser, I want you to know that we’ve all been there. Everyone has felt like a loser at a point in their life. Even the most successful people you see have felt like that at one point or another. So feeling like a loser is completely normal.

But just because you feel like a loser, doesn’t mean you should be a loser or stay a loser. It is important that you try all you can to get yourself out of that state. One only feels like a loser when their life is a mess and they are not really reaching any goals. Sometimes, you may not even have any goals in life and that can make you feel like a loser.

Below, we’ll take a look at how to not be a loser. Incorporate these things into your daily habits and watch how your life transforms.

Stop procrastinating

One common habit of all losers is procrastinating. How can you get anything done and hence achieve success when all you do everyday is say “I will start tomorrow”. If you don’t want to be a loser, then start now. Don’t wait for tomorrow for tomorrow may never come.

Whatever it is that you’ve been putting off for days or weeks or even months, just do it. Let today be the day, you get it done.

Own up to your mistakes

Owning up to your mistakes is the first step in righting your wrongs. Once you accept that you are at fault, you can go ahead to find ways through which you can make things right. So stop saying it wasn’t my fault and start saying, “I’m sorry, how can I make things better”.

When you own up to your mistakes, you accept responsibility for the things you’ve done. This helps to get rid of the shame and guilt associated with making mistakes. And by letting go of guilt, you are able to live freely and be a more productive person which will in turn make you successful.

Don’t wallow in self pity

It’s okay to feel sad. It’s okay to cry if you want to. But don’t wallow in self pity. Yes, something bad happened. Something awful happened to you and it broke you or made you sad. But don’t just sit down all the time, just feeling sorry for yourself and asking yourself, why do these things happen to me.

Get up and take action. Sad about your grades? Then don’t go partying and wasting all day on social media, learn. Sad about your weight? Do something about it.

Want to lose weight? Switch to healthy diet and hit the gym. Want to gain weight? Change your relationship with food. Try to eat more and add some smoothies to help you get more calories. Sad about not finding a job? Create a job for yourself. Really, instead of just lying in bed wallowing in self pity, get up and take action.

Don’t make excuses, take action, don’t be passive

I’ve always thought of excuses as a way to justify laziness or not wanting to do something. If you really want something, go after it. Don’t try to find a reason why you can’t or shouldn’t do it. If you want a reason, you will get one. So just do it.

Take action in life. Don’t say what will be will be. What shapes your life is the choices you make and the things you do. And even if in the end, what will be be, you will know that it wasn’t because you didn’t give it your all.

Don’t take things personal

Really, not everything is about you. Life will be a lot easier if you adopt the mindset that people have their own thing going on. Even when someone does something to you, just tell yourself, it’s not about you, it’s about them and then move on.

People who take things personal are always dwelling on past hurts and mistakes and that can affect your mental health and productivity and make you waste your days. So no, let it go. It’s not about you, so don’t take it personal. Focus on you and what will help you mentally and emotionally.

Be determined

It all start with the mind. Be determined. Make up your mind. Wake up tomorrow and decide you are not going to be a loser today and do everything you can to not be a loser. Get a planner. Write down the things you want to get done and then work on those things.

Set goals in life. Set long term goals and break them down into small actionable steps and work on them everyday. By doing this, you keep records of your achievements, however little and that can be your daily reminder that you are not a loser.

Choose healthy lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle can do a lot not just for your body, but for your mind and for your life goals too. Think about it this way, how are you going to be successful if your body is failing? So it is important to make your health a priority.

Eat a well balanced diet, drink more water, stay active. Exercising for just 10 minutes daily can do a lot for your health. And another important thing that people don’t talk about often, practice personal hygiene.

Clean up your act

This last point is even more important. If you don’t want to be a loser, clean up your act. Stop doing the things that make you feel like a loser. Stop hanging out with the wrong crowd. Stop drinking, smoking or doing anything that is detrimental to your health. Stop partying or night only to wake up the next morning feeling like a loser.

Declutter your home. Get rid of all the unnecessary things in your home that are only keeping you from achieving your goals.

I know it’s not going to be easy but once you are determined to clean up your act and get your life together, you will do it if you do these things everyday.
