Valentine Cookie Recipe

This Valentine’s day, instead of the usual flowers and chocolates, whip up some delicious homemade Valentine cookies for your family and friends. Or better still you can add the cookies to flowers and chocolates for them. See below for Valentine cookie recipe they will love.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Directions

Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another large mixing bowl.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar with an electric mixer for about three minutes or until it is light and fluffy. Then add the egg and a tablespoon of vanilla extract.

After that, reduce the mixer speed to low and add flour mixture in a slow, steady stream, mixing just until combined.

Divide the dough into two disks and roll each one to a thickness of 1/8 inch between two pieces of waxed paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or freeze for 15 minutes until hard.

Preheat your oven to 350°F and line the baking pans with parchment paper.

Now cut out cookies with floured cookie cutters and place them on the sheets that have been prepared.

If you still have some scraps left, reroll the scraps, put it into the refrigerator, and once it is hard, cut them.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, rotating baking pans halfway through, until light golden brown around the edges.

Allow 5 minutes for cooling on sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Once the cookies have completely cooled, decorate them however you want for Valentine’s day. You can even write some lovely messages on the cookies for your loved ones. See below for some Valentine’s cookies shapes and decorating ideas.
