As an administrator, I take every opportunity to attend conferences that help sharpen my professional skills and strengthen my role in the Local Government Service. This year’s Ghana Association of Local Government Service Administrative Officers’ Conference was no exception. It was held at Chances Hotel in Ho from the 1st to 4th of October 2025, under the theme “Enhancing Local Governance through Administrative Excellence.”

The event brought together over 500 administrators from across the country—a truly inspiring gathering of brilliant minds committed to building stronger, more effective local governance systems.

A Refreshing Stay in the Heart of Ho

Ho, the capital city of the Volta Region, is one of Ghana’s most serene and scenic destinations. Nestled at the foot of the Adaklu Mountains, the city greets you with cool breezes, lush greenery, and a calm rhythm that instantly slows down life’s usual rush. I felt this deeply during my three-night stay—peaceful mornings, warm people, and a sense of tranquility that made the entire conference even more enjoyable.

The conference itself was packed with activities—addresses by top officials, national executive elections, capacity-building sessions, a regional tour, and a cocktail night. The 1st and 4th days were reserved for arrival and departure, giving us two full working days to engage, learn, and of course, dress the part.

But beyond the speeches and sessions, one thing that stood out for me was the opportunity to express my personal style in a professional setting. So, let’s talk fashion—because looking good while doing good work is absolutely part of the conference experience.

Outfits for the Day

Day 1: Soft Tones, Strong Presence

There’s something about stepping into a professional space looking and feeling your best—it instantly boosts your confidence and sets the right tone. For Day 1 of the Administrators’ Conference, I opted for a mint green, slightly beaded top paired with nude-green trousers. The combination was soft yet commanding, calm yet confident—exactly the energy I wanted to bring into the conference.

The top’s simple bead detailing added a gentle sparkle without being too loud, while its peplum waist gave structure and elegance. I completed the look with classic black 3-inch heels, a cute black handbag, and subtle accessories that allowed the outfit’s natural tones to shine.

My blunt bone-straight hair gave the whole look a sleek, polished finish—professional but still feminine. This outfit made me feel quietly powerful, the kind of presence that says, “I’m here to learn, contribute, and lead.” It wasn’t about being the most dressed-up person in the room; it was about wearing something that represented grace and confidence effortlessly.

Day 2: Bold Prints, Easy Steps

A touch of culture and comfort

Day 2 fell on a Friday and in Ghana, Fridays mean one thing: African wear day! I was excited to lean into that cultural pride and embrace the colorful vibrance of our heritage.

I wore a bright African print top with a flattering peplum cut that hugged my silhouette beautifully. The mix of orange, black, and gold brought life and warmth to the look without compromising professionalism. I paired it with sleek black trousers, striking that perfect balance between bold and polished.

Knowing we had a tour scheduled right after the conference, I ditched my heels for comfortable brown sandals—a practical choice that kept me stylish but free to move. My black handbag and a pair of glasses were the finishing touches, adding a modern edge to the traditional outfit.

That day’s look was all about comfort, culture, and confidence—proof that African wear can be both functional and fashionable. Whether seated in a meeting or strolling through the streets of Ho, I felt effortlessly in tune with the moment.

Tour: Nature, Fun, and Laughter

For the tour, participants were given branded round-neck t-shirts during registration, which became our uniform for the day. I didn’t manage to capture a photo of myself wearing it—I was too excited exploring the breathtaking Amedzofe Canopy Walkway, about an hour from Ho.

To make up for it, I’ll be featuring a colleague who wore the same color I chose—it complemented our skin tones beautifully and made the entire team photo pop. It was one of those carefree moments where work met adventure, and everyone’s spirit felt light.

Cocktail Evening: A Quick Switch

After the tour, we returned to the hotel later than expected, so there wasn’t much time to change for the cocktail event. I ended up wearing the same t-shirt and black trousers from the tour. I had actually packed a stunning off-shoulder nude body-fitting jumpsuit, but time wasn’t on my side. Still, I enjoyed the evening as it was—relaxed, fun, and full of laughter among colleagues. Sometimes, comfort wins the night.

Conclusion

The conference in Ho wasn’t just about professional development—it was about growth, connection, and confidence, both inside and out. From soft tones to bold prints, every outfit told a story of balance: between style and function, culture and class, learning and leisure.

I left Ho feeling refreshed, inspired, and reminded that no matter where you are—whether it’s the boardroom, the tour bus, or the dance floor—showing up as your best self is always in style.
